With both the New York Knicks and Brooklyn Nets struggling early in the season, the two Big Apple-based clubs are emerging as the frontrunners in Kyle Lowry trade talks with the Toronto Raptors said to be eager to move the streaky point guard and continue with their rebuilding plans.

Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports is reporting that the Nets are gaining traction as a possible destination for Lowry, even as the Knicks front-office is trying to convince its owner Jim Dolan to pull the trigger on the trade for the explosive point guard.

The Knicks initially offered guard Raymond Felton, forward Metta World Peace and a 2018 first round pick for Lowry, but the deal did not push through as the team was hesitant on sending a first-round pick to the Raptors as part of the trade. Sources said there is little chance that the Raptors will agree to the deal without the 2018 first round pick.

Entering the fray is the Brooklyn Nets who want an insurance for point guard Deron Williams who has been oft-injured as of late. The Raptors reportedly want rookie center Mason Plumlee or a 2020 first round pick from the Nets, but there are talks that the Nets don't want to send that much for Lowry. Brooklyn instead want to give Mirza Teletovic, Tyshawn Taylor and 2011 second round draft pick Bojan Bogdanovic to Toronto in exchange for Lowry.

Another team that is said to be interested in acquiring Lowry is the Golden State Warriors.
