The NFL has announced that it is headed to Spain in 2025.

Spain will host its first-ever NFL regular season game at Real Madrid, Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.

"We could not be more excited to bring the best of the NFL, the best of our teams and star players to the more than 13 million passionate fans in Spain and partner with one of the greatest global soccer clubs in Real Madrid in a truly world-class and innovative stadium," said Peter O'Reilly of the NFL's head of international affairs.

The teams to play in the game are still to be determined. However, O'Reilly has said that it would be a team from the AFC being that the conference will have an extra home game that year.

The NFL has been expanding its international presence over the years, with Real Madrid being an aggressive bidder.

"I would like to express our deepest gratitude to you and to let you know that it is a great honor for Real Madrid to host this international event with the NFL over the next few years in our stadium," said Emilio Butragueño, Madrid's director of institutional relations. "For us, you are a model of management and a great traveling companion with whom to share our dreams."

On Monday, the NFL announced that the Philadelphia Eagles will open the 2024 regular season in São Paulo, Brazil. The game will be hosted at the Corinthians Arena, home to Brazilian soccer team the SC Corinthians.

Last season the Jacksonville Jaguars hosted home games in London along with one in Germany, and now in Brazil.

The NFL has also hosted games in Mexico City and plans to return there in 2026.

The announcement came during an exciting week for football fans, as Super Bowl 58 quickly approaches and features a prime time matchup between two of the best teams in the league, the San Francisco 49ers and the Kansas City Chiefs.
