The Golden State Warriors are making a move.
The sense of urgency is kicking in as the season enters the second half where teams need to collect as many wins as possible for better placing in the playoffs.
Unfortunately for the Dubs, they are having a hard time doing that. They are 4-6 in their last ten games.
They are currently 20-24 and are no. 12 in the Western Conference standings.
Andrew Wiggins and Chris Paul will be the sacrificial lambs for the Warriors to get better. Klay Thompson, part of the team's core since their championship run, is also not off the table.
The former no. 1 draft pick used to be an asset but now, he is more of a liability, especially with the increasing play of Jonathan Kuminga.
Reports have it that he is on the trading block, and teams are put on alert if they want him.
"They're going to take calls on Andrew Wiggins, Chris Paul, and could they get interest on a guy even like Klay Thompson? I think those are very much open conversations for the Warriors," NBA Insider Shams Charania said in his show on "Fan Duel, Run It Back."
"They have to be open-minded. This is a team that's five games under 500, in that 12th spot. So we'll see if there's going to be any moves over the next 10 days."
For now, Wiggins is the most likely to be traded because of Thompson's sentimental value for the Dubs, while CP3 is still recovering from injury.
Wiggins has also been playing well lately, which could only increase trade value.
So where should the Warriors ship him to get the best deal? Here are the three best trade scenarios the team can consider.
1. Chicago Bulls for Alex Caruso, Patrick Williams
The Warriors had Donte DiVincenzo last season as a defensive guard. The West continues to be dominated by elite scoring guards, and they can use one who excels on the defensive end.
That is where Alex Caruso comes in. They can offer Wiggins and a few round picks to acquire the NBA champion, as well as Patrick Williams, who might feel unwanted right now after not being offered an extension over the summer.
2. Brooklyn Nets for Spencer Dinwiddie and Lonnie Walker IV
Spencer Dinwiddie is another unhappy player with his current team. The Brooklyn Nets could swap him, alongside Lonnie Walker, for Wiggins to beef up their power forward depth.
This should be an attractive scenario for Brooklyn as they will be able to let go of two contracts. Walker said he is using his minimum contract as a motivation to land a larger one when he becomes a free agent.
This is a good move for the Warriors because they will have another shot-creator and wing defender.
3. Detroit Pistons for Isaiah Stewart
The Dubs are used to playing a small center and have had success with it. They could use another center, as Kevon Looney has been inconsistent this season.
Stewart, who once fought with Thompson and Draymond Green, will be a huge addition with his toughness. He can also slide to power forward as a reliever for Green, who might make another bad decision in-game.
His salary is not much of a problem for the Warriors, as he is set to receive just $5 million this season.
