At the start of the season, the Golden State Warriors acquired their former rival, Chris Paul, to ensure they would be within title contention.
However, the dream appears unreachable these days.
Chris Paul has yet to play a game since January 6, although he is not the one to blame for their struggles.
The Warriors are not even in the Play-In, and their woes of last season, most especially road performance, remain.
Changes have to be made, and CP3 will likely be the one that's going to be sacrificed.
"I think it's a possibility. Part of the reason they traded for him was that optionality," The Athletic's Anthony Slater said.
"Part of the appeal of his contract also when they made the move where they traded Jordan Poole for him was the fact that it was expiring. They are moving into this world where are they going to extend Klay Thompson in the summer?"

CP3 is still recovering, but he is a serviceable guard if he is healthy and under the right system. He can still start for any team.
Which teams need a pure point guard right bow?
These are the three teams that should trade for the Point God:
1. Chicago Bulls
The Warriors need a wing player. The Bulls need a point guard. This should be a win-win-win situation for the two teams and the key players involved in the possible trade.
Zach Lavine has been on trade rumors since last season, and it is time for the Bulls to part ways with him. The Bulls should receive CP3 alongside Moses Moody and a few draft picks to ensure they get the most out of the deal.
CP3's $30 million salary for next season is also non-guaranteed, so the cap should not be a problem for them.
Bull's offense can become listless sometimes, but CP3 can revitalize it with DeMar DeRozan as his main target. Paul and Nikola Vucevic will also make good pick-and-roll partners.
2. Los Angeles Lakers
The Lakers need to make a move now. They lost two straight games they had no business losing - against the Houston Rockets and the Atlanta Hawks.
If they can't acquire a defensive guard, they can gamble with a playmaker who can provide variance in their offensive schemes.
Anthony Davis and Lebron James are doing well as partners, but adding CP3 in the lineup will give both more freedom on offense. Paul will relieve James of his PG duties and focus more on being an attacker.
3. Phoenix Suns
A reunion with the Suns might be possible if the team thinks they must address their needs immediately. Devin Booker is their point guard on paper, but his style of play is shooting guard.
Warriors can trade for Josh Okogie to get this deal done to fill the hole in their squad. The Suns can also ask for some more draft picks in the deal.
CP3 had his best season with the Suns, leading them to an NBA Finals appearance in 2021. Their separation was abrupt, but there's no wound that winning can't heal.
