Almost a year removed from becoming the NBA's all-time leader in points scored, LeBron James sets his sights on another significant accomplishment in his already legendary career.
James has a chance to be the first player in NBA History to score 40,000 points. James at the moment has 39,509 so far and needs another 491 points in order to reach 40K, which he could accomplish after the All-Star break.
LeBron broke the all-time scoring record last February, becoming the first player in NBA history to top Kareem Abdul Jabar's record, which was set back in the 1983-84 season.
James broke the 39,000 points threshold earlier this season against the Utah Jazz. As of lately, he has been on an offensive tear, adding another prolific scoring season, averaging 25.2 points with a 52.7 field goal percentage and shooting 39.7% from three-point range.
Here is King James' roadmap to 40,000 points over the next two months.

Lakers: LeBron James' Road to 40K
The road to 40K points for LeBron James will be a challenging one. The Lakers are currently 17-18 after a 106-103 win against the Los Angeles Clippers and have a tough schedule through the next two months.
Throughout January, the Lakers play some of the Western Conference's best teams. The Lakers take on the Suns this week, followed by a road game against a surging Utah Jazz. This month also includes matchups against the Oklahoma City Thunder, Luka Doncic and the Mavericks, and a talented Chicago Bulls team.
James will likely not break the record anytime in January, but expect him to cut the deficit down with some big-time performance throughout the month.
Lakers: February for King James
LeBron can definitely reach 40,000 points sometime in February. James could break the record against the Jazz on February 14 or even against the Golden State Warriors on February 22. Both of these games will be on the road for the Lakers.
It is even possible for him to cross the 40k mark later in their February 25th matchup against the San Antonio Spurs.
By then, the Lakers would have played close to 60 games on the season. Barring rest or injury, LeBron James could reach 40,000 points throughout these coming months.
