Alabama Crimson Tide football team's season has come to an end after bowing to the Michigan Wolverines in the overtime of the Rose Bowl game.
They finished the season with a 12-2 win-loss record and 9-5 all-time in College Football Playoff games.
The offseason will be busy for the Alabama football program, and they hope they will still have coach Nick Saban on the sidelines.
Nick Saban Contract and Salary
Alabama did not win a title this year, but they can make another attempt and stay close to a title hunt with Saban at the helm.
The school decided to keep the 72-year-old tactician until 2030, and they did it by making him the highest-paid football coach.
The two parties signed an eight-year contract worth $93.6 million in 2022. He is set to earn $11.7 million annually based on this contract. Before this latest agreement, Alabama and Saban agreed in 2022 summer to a $9.9 million annual salary.
His latest salary terms allowed him to eclipse Clemson counterpart Dabo Swinney, who earns $10.9 million a year. Kirby Smart of Georgia is a close third with $10.7 million yearly earnings as a coach.
Saban expressed gratefulness to his employers after signing the contract and hinted that he was not going anywhere.
"Our family is very happy to agree to a contract extension with The University of Alabama," Saban said in a statement.
"Terry and I are very appreciative of the unmatched commitment the University has shown to this football program and our family over the last 15-plus years. This is our home, and we look forward to finishing our career at Alabama. I've said this before, but the most fulfilling part of our job is seeing the play."

Saban has been with the Alabama Crimson Tide since 2007. Before that, he coached the Miami Dolphins in the National Football League.
He won six national titles in his 17 years with the team, although the last was in 2020. This is the first time in the Nick Saban era that Alabama has not won a title for three consecutive years.
He is a five-time SEC Coach of the Year and was named Paul Bryant Award recipient twice.
What's next after the Rose Bowl Game loss?
While some players are about to go pro, specifically Dallas Turner, Saban remains adamant about keeping Alabama a contender.
Defensive coordinator Kevin Steele suggested that Saban was not considering retirement three days ago.
Steele, a long-time colleague of Saban, was asked about the head coach's plans if they ever won the CFP.
"I've heard it. So, yeah, it's always going to be out there, and I will tell you this: Nobody knows that answer except for him," Steele said.
Saban also denied claims in November 2023 that he would retire soon, saying that thought remains far from his mind.
The Crimson Tide and the 72-year-old Hall of Fame coach will go to wars together for quite a long time.
Saban is here to stay.
