Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid has maintained his commanding presence in the league this season.

Many argue that the 7-foot center rightfully claims the title of the best player in the world, particularly in light of his recent accomplishment of securing the 2022-23 NBA Most Valuable Player award.

Guiding his team to the third-best record in the Eastern Conference with a 19-8 standing this season, they trail only two games behind the conference leaders, the Boston Celtics.

The Cameroonian was chosen as the third overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft. Despite missing his first two seasons because of a foot injury, he showcased a solid performance in his debut season in 2016-17, earning him a spot on the All-Rookie First Team.

Since then, he has proven himself to be one of the best players in the NBA. Embiid has been the league's leading scorer for the last two seasons, boasting an average of 30.6 points in 2021-22 and an even more remarkable 33.1 points in 2022-23.

This season, the six-time NBA All-Star stands out as the frontrunner to secure his second consecutive NBA MVP award, showcasing relentless performance that hasn't waned even after earning the accolade the previous year.

3 Reasons Joel Embiid Will Win Back-to-Back MVP This 2023-24 Season

1. Continued dominance for Embiid

The 29-year-old is currently boasting a league-leading average of 35.1 points per game, solidifying his trajectory towards securing his third scoring title in a row.

Additionally, he maintains averages of 11.8 rebounds, 5.9 assists, 1.9 blocks, and 1.1 steals per game.

The 2023 All-NBA First Team member is also shooting at a 54.8 percent accuracy from the field and 33.3 percent from three-point distance across 24 games.

2. The Sixers have a good supporting cast

Earlier in the season, the Sixers made a significant move by trading star James Harden to the Los Angeles Clippers.

In return, they acquired Marcus Morris Sr., Nicolas Batum, Robert Covington, KJ Martin, and a collection of draft picks. These acquisitions have proven beneficial for the team.

Guard Tyrese Maxey is also continuing his rise as a star in the league during his fourth season, and the Sixers do not seem to miss Harden so much right now.

Having formidable teammates allows Embiid to operated much smoother, especially with the offense now catered more to him instead of sharing the ball with Harden.

3. Pattern of consistency

Historically, Embiid has consistently delivered strong performances throughout the entire regular season, with minimal fluctuations in his game.

His only setbacks have been injuries, which resulted in his second-place finishes for the MVP award behind Nikola Jokic in both 2021 and 2022.

If he maintains his level of play until April, then there is a good chance that he will hoist another MVP trophy in front of Philadelphia fans soon.

However, the consistency and caliber of Embiid's performance in the playoffs remain subjects of debate and discussion.
