The College Football Playoff selection committee faced an incredibly challenging task on Sunday, December 3.
Confronted with six teams boasting exceptional resumes but only four available spots for the playoff, the committee found itself compelled to exclude two highly deserving teams.
Two teams were unmistakably clear choices for the College Football Playoff: Michigan and Washington.
Both boasted undefeated records, good health, and a display of dominance. Their path to the knockout tournament was undisputed, particularly following their triumphs in their respective conference championship games.
However, the last two spots were anything but clear-cut. They represented perhaps the most controversial selections in the history of the CFP. In the end, Texas and Alabama secured those debated final spots.
Let's take a look at the teams that were snubbed from the 2023 College Football Playoff.

Georgia Bulldogs
The Georgia Bulldogs, reigning national champions with back-to-back titles, appeared poised for a shot at securing their third consecutive championship.
Their undefeated season and a remarkable 29-game winning streak set the stage for high expectations leading into the Southeastern championship game against Alabama.
Nevertheless, Alabama, entering the game as the eighth seed, pulled off a stunning upset with a 27-24 victory in the championship game.
This unexpected turn of events brought the selection committee into a frenzy, eventually securing Alabama's place in the College Football Playoff and ruining a potential three-peat bid for the Bulldogs.
Florida State Semionoles
Florida State did everything that could be asked of it, finishing the season undefeated and winning the ACC Championship.
Despite these accomplishments, they found themselves excluded from contention, primarily due to star quarterback Jordan Travis enduring a season-ending ankle injury.
Remarkably, Florida State secured the ACC Championship with third-string quarterback Brock Glenn leading the offense. However, despite this achievement, the committee overlooked the Seminoles, emphasizing their lack of a healthy lineup.
"In the eyes of the committee, Florida State is a different team without Jordan Travis," College Football Playoff selection committee chairman and North Carolina State athletic director Boo Corrigan mentioned.
Ohio State Buckeyes
The Ohio State Buckeyes have had a stellar season, finishing with an impressive 11-1 record. Unfortunately, their sole loss came in a closely contested match against Michigan, resulting in a 30-24 defeat.
This loss impacted their standing in the Big Ten Championship and significantly diminished their prospects of securing a spot in the College Football Playoff.
Despite missing out on the Big Ten Championship and CFB, the team retains the opportunity to achieve a 12-win season and conclude the year ranked in the top 10 in the final college football rankings this season.
