Sacramento Kings star De'Aaron Fox has established himself as the face of the franchise in the past few years.
The dynamic point guard's leadership has guided the team through a challenging rebuilding phase, culminating in their first postseason appearance in 16 years in 2023.
The Kings selected the 25-year-old with the fifth overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft after playing one season of college basketball in Kentucky.
The year 2023 marked a significant year for the 6-foot-3 playmaker. In addition to steering the Kings to their first playoff appearance in nearly two decades, Fox earned his first selection at the NBA All-Star Game, a spot on the All-NBA Third Team, and secured the inaugural NBA Clutch Player of the Year Award.
After sticking with the team through thick and thin, the Kings rewarded their star player with a hefty payday.
De'Aaron Fox Contract: $163 million
Fox inked a five-year max contract extension worth $163 million back in 2020 to stay at Sacramento until the conclusion of the 2025-26 season.
The contract officially took effect in the 2021-22 season and includes a clause that could escalate the total value to a staggering $195 million.
Before this extension, Fox's previous deal was a rookie scale contract he signed upon being drafted in 2017, worth $24,572,507 for four years.
De'Aaron Fox Career Earnings
After the 2023-24 NBA season, Fox is set to accumulate $115,228,300 in career earnings throughout seven seasons in the league, according to Spotrac.
This figure exclusively accounts for his NBA salary and does not factor in additional income from endorsements. Additionally, it does not consider deductions for taxes, agent fees, and other related expenses.
By the end of his current max deal in 2026, Fox will amass $187,173,260 in career earnings. He will only be 28 years old by that time, putting him in prime position for another substantial NBA contract as he enters the peak of his career.
Fox also has a shoe deal with Under Armour subsidiary Curry Brand, an additional income stream for the Kings star. However, the terms of the agreement have not been disclosed to the public.
De'Aaron Fox Salary 2023
Fox is slated to earn $32,600,060 for the ongoing 2023-24 NBA season, the third year of his current max contract, per figures from HoopsHype. He is the 38th best-paid player in the association for the current campaign and the highest-paid player in the Kings.
Having earned $30,351,780 in the 2022-23 season, Fox will continue to experience a salary increase in the upcoming seasons.
The former Kentucky standout's pay is set to spike to $34,848,340 next season and increase to $37,096,620 in 2025-26, which marks the final year of his contract with Sacramento.
