Patriots: 3 Takeaways From New England’s Loss to Colts

The New England Patriots dropped another game on Sunday, November 12, bowing to the Indianapolis Colts, 10-6, in Frankfurt, Germany. The Colts vs. Patriots encounter was the last game outside the United States this season.

There were a lot of scenarios in the Colts vs. Patriots Germany game worth noting. One of them is the benching of Mac Jones in the Week 10 match.

Mac Jones disappoints once more

Jones was benched with 4:24 left in regulation after a botched pass to Mike Gesicki in the end zone, CBS Sports reported. With his throw falling short, Colts' defender Julian Blackmon picked it up and doused any hope of the Pats to come within striking distance of Indianapolis.

In all, Jones was sacked five times in the first half and finished the game 15 for 20 for 170 yards and his league-leading 10th interception, NBC Sports Boston reported.

After that play, Patriots head coach Bill Belichick had seen enough. He turned to Bailey Zappe, although this hardly upped New England's fortunes. He also made a crucial error that eventually sealed it for the Colts.

He wound up the game going 3 for 7 for 25 yards and an interception.

Belichick avoids Mac Jones health queries

After the game, Belichick was unsurprisingly asked about the state of Mac Jones. This was after the 25-year-old play-caller was spotted going to the X-ray room after the loss to the Colts.

However, it appears that Jones just suffered a bruise and avoided any major injuryESPN reported.

Belichick, Jones facing gloomy feature

With the Patriots possibly missing the playoffs once more, questions are in the air about the futures of Belichick and Jones. New England failed to transition past the Tom Brady era, even if they deemed Jones the logical successor.

The Pats need to worry about their next opponent - the New York Giants. They will have time to prepare since New England drew a bye and will play the Giants on November 26. Both teams are sporting similar 2-8 cards.

Before that NFL game, New York will first face the Washington Commanders on Sunday, November 19.
