The Alabama quarterbacks in the NFL are notable, with Crimson Tide priding itself on producing the best play-callers from its program. This is in part credited to Nick Saban, considered the greatest coach in college football history.
At the moment, there are several quarterbacks from Alabama University showcasing their talent for different NFL teams. Some have had an erratic run, although they remain vital to their respective teams.
That list includes Jalen Hurts of the Philadelphia Eagles, Tua Tagovailoa of the Miami Dolphins, and Mac Jones of the New England Patriots.

These three play-callers have stood out, a reason why opposing teams are wary of them.
Mac Jones, New England Patriots
Mac Jones is under a lot of pressure these days to fill in the quarterback void left by Tom Brady. He was always seen as the team's QB of the future, but that has so far not happened.
The 25-year-old has been a letdown for the Patriots, with some reportedly questioning his decision-making. Aside from that, it appears Jones is not following or having difficulty following his coaches, according to Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated on NBC Sports Boston.
Unless he can turn things around, the future is looking bleak for Jones in New England.
Tua Tagovailoa, Miami Dolphins
The same cannot be said about Tua Tagovailoa of the Miami Dolphins. The 25-year-old has been turning heads, especially considering that most once feared that his NFL career was over.
This is about the concussion he went through last NFL season. Tagovailoa admitted he considered retiring after the 2022 season due to his injuries, ESPN reported.
Rather than see a downward trend, the 2022 NFL passer rating leader is playing at a high level, helping the Dolphins. With Tagovailoa connecting with Tyreek Hill and company, the Dolphins have racked up a 6-3 win-loss card as of this writing.
Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia Eagles
Hobbled by injuries, Jalen Hurts has proven that he is tough as nails. Although he is dealing with a left knee injury, he continues to play at an elite level with the Eagles.
Eagles' defensive end Brandon Graham is one of those who are left in awe of the 25-year-old's drive and perseverance. He is aware that Hurts is dealing with a lot at the moment, but his level of play is simply astounding, Fox News reported.
"I was so proud of him. I know he's been dealing with a lot. It's been a lot of stuff we don't talk about, that we just keep confidential," Graham said.
Hurts determination has been rewarding, a reason why the Eagles are at 6-1 right now. He is on the right path as he continues to work his way among the top QBs in the NFL.
Bryce Young, Carolina Panthers
There is a reason why the Panthers selected Bryce Young as the top pick of the 2023 NFL Draft. But being a rookie, the 22-year-old has yet to find the right groove to show that with Carolina.
His production has been awful, although he showed a bit of what he can do in his team's win over the Houston Texans last October 29. He had a career-best 103.6 passer rating in that game, overshadowing the poor performances when Carolina was still winless, ESPN reported.
It has been a tough rookie season for Young, but Panthers coach Frank Reich and the rest of the Panthers are keeping the faith.
These are the four names currently actively playing in the NFL. But of course, there were a lot of other great quarterbacks who played in the past. That list includes:
- Joe Namath (1965)
- Ken Stabler (1968)
- AJ McCarron (2014)
- Greg McElroy (2011)
- Brodie Coyle (2006)
Namath and Stabler stand out from that list, having won Super Bowl titles as starting QBs. Namath did it in Super Bowl 3, while Stabler followed in Super Bowl 11, per Sporting News.
