Old - is a word that the core of the Golden State Warriors have been hearing since their last championship.
Draymond Green will never tire of defending himself and the rest of his team.
In another chapter of his word war with Charles Barkley, who for the nth time called his team "old" and "cooked," Green upped the ante by dragging the former NBA MVP's twilight years with the Houston Rockets.
Green suggested that "old" in the NBA is not about age but the player's performance.
"I don't mind that," Green said during an appearance at The Steam Room podcast.
"I mean, I think 'old' sounds a little harsh. I think 'old' sounds as if we looked like Chuck when he was out there with the Houston Rockets. That's what 'old' kinda sounds like to me."
Barkley, 60, played his last four seasons with the Rockets. He still put up decent numbers, although Houston missed the playoffs in 2000, his last season.
Why age is an advantage for the Warriors?
Green acknowledged that they have an aging core. He and Klay Thompson are 33, while Stephen Curry is 35. Their latest addition and "Point God" Chris Paul is 38.
This, to the two-time Defensive Player of the Year, is an advantage.
"Our ages are getting up there," Green explained. "You can't deny that. In saying that, though, we are experienced. I think the most important thing, to Chuck's point, is us staying healthy. We are definitely getting older, but that ain't never stopped us from winning."
The Warriors are not even in the Top 10 of the oldest NBA roster this season. They only get that tag because of their core.
