Cole Holcomb's knee injury is the latest setback for the Pittsburgh Steelers, who won over the Tennessee Titans, 20-16, in Week 9 action on Thursday, November 2.

There remains no official word on Cole Holcomb's injury status after DeAndre Hopkins of the Tennessee Titans tackled him after the 1st-and-23 play, Fox News reported.

The 27-year-old immediately grabbed his knee when he hit the ground after the play. The Florida native was carted away following an initial evaluation. Before he was taken out, Holcomb accounted for two tackles in the first quarter.

Cole Holcomb injury update

Holcomb's injury was so gruesome that the Amazon Prime Video broadcast would not show the replays on Thursday Night Football. However, videos of the play show Holcomb's leg colliding with Titans safety Keanu Neal. A clip of that play was shared on social media by NFL writer Dov Kleiman.

Cole Holcomb, the former North Carolina Tar Heel, was not expected to return after that play and was ruled out for the remainder of the game, SI.com reported.

With Holcomb out, the Steelers had no choice but to turn to Kwon Alexander and Elandon Roberts to fill the inside linebacker void. Another option for Steelers coach is Mark Robinson, although he has scarcely seen action this NFL season.

It was an unfortunate turn of events for Holcomb, who is in his first year with the Steelers after four years playing in the NFC East.

An injury update on Holcomb is expected to be out soon, although his reaction after the play indicated it was severe.
