The UFC 295 showdown between Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic is no more, as the former has been forced out of the fight due to injury.

Jones is suffering from a torn pectoral tendon, derailing what would have been his first defense of the title he won against Francis Ngannou.

For that, Jone feels sorry for the fans who expected him to come out on November 11.

"Obviously, very sad situation, very upset," he said in an Instagram post.

"But I've been through a lot of things in life, and injuries are a part of being an athlete. I want to thank the UFC for getting me in to one of the best doctors in the country."

He also apologized to his supposed opponent for the ugly development.

"I wanted to say thank you to Stipe Miocic for all the work that he's put in. Also, sorry to Stipe and his team. Like I said, this comes with the territory."

How long will Jones be out?

Jones confirmed that surgery is already scheduled to fix his injured tendon and that he will undergo therapy for several months.

He also vowed to get back to work as soon as possible.

UFC, on the other hand, was quick to find a replacement for the headline fight.

The fight, which will take place at the Madison Square Garden in New York City, will now be headlined by a light heavyweight bout between Jiří Procházka and Alex Pereira.
