Max Scherzer's first World Series outing during his time with the Washington Nationals was not perfect as he was forced to sit out Game 5 due to an injury. He faces a similar situation as his Texas Rangers is about to face the Arizona Diamondbacks in the last MLB stage after it was revealed that his pitching hand's thumb was injured.

Will he sit out the first game? Scherzer is not called Mad Max for nothing.

The 39-year-old pitcher said he is ready to play through pain even if there is a chance that his injury could get bloody.

"It's just a cut. I can wear a bandage, throw a bullpen on it," Scherzer said. "The pain of it, I can pitch through that. That's not the problem. It's just it would get bloody."

His fans and doctors probably don't have to worry about as he also revealed that he was in a similar situation a few games ago when he pitched in Game 3 of the series against the Houston Astros.

"It's almost like the month off, the skin on top of the thumb, which is typically maybe a little more calloused, went away," he said. "Now, when you come back, it's soft and now it got cut."

Rangers starting pitcher revealed

Max Scherzer will start from the bench for the Rangers Nathan Eovaldi has already been confirmed to throw first.

The Texas native boasts a 2.42 ERA in four starts this postseason and coach Bruce Bochy rationalized that Eovaldi will be recharged in the series that will start on Friday.

"You look at Monday's work," Bochy said. "It just makes sense to give [Eovaldi] the ball. That's about it."
