The Cleveland Cavaliers have officially started the 2023-24 NBA season on a high note, getting away with a 114-113 victory against the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday, October 25 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

Donovan Mitchell was the catalyst on the win, sinking a crucial go-ahead three-point shot with just 12.1 seconds remaining in the game, overturning their two-point deficit and propelling them into the lead.

Meanwhile, the Nets' Cam Thomas and Cam Johnson failed to convert potential game-winning shots as the clock expired.

Mitchell capped off his night with 27 points on 11-of-21 shooting from the field and 4-of-10 from 3-point distance. The 27-year-old added five rebounds, six assists, four steals and one block for the evening.

Meanwhile, free agent acquisition Max Strus delivered big on his regular season debut for the Cavs, scoring 27 points of his own while setting a new franchise record for most threes in his first game as Cav with seven baskets from distance.
