Los Angeles Lakers guard Austin Reaves is undoubtedly a player on the rise. However, the big question is how far the 25-year-old can go in his NBA career.
In the eyes of former NBA player Chandler Parsons, Reaves is an outstanding player, and the hype he is getting at the moment only adds to the pressure of performing.
"He's a really good player, and he's got a lot of hype now," the former Houston Rockets player said on Run It Back. "He's had a huge glow-up which puts a huge bullseye on his back."
And while most players thrive under pressure, the 6-foot-8 small forward, who had his share of hype during his time, gave his forecast on how far Reaves can go in the NBA.
"He's not a player who's going to continue to get exceptionally better. It's not like the potential is through the roof with him," the former second-round pick stated.
Parsons believes Reaves will get his share of glory and will remain a contributor to the purple and gold. But with a lot on his plate, the 2012 NBA All-Rookie Second Team believes that the expectations on the 6-foot-5 guard are just unfair, SI.com reported.
Austin Reaves' bar set high
Despite what Parsons had to say, many believe that Reaves will continue to be a vital cog for the Lakers this 2023-24 NBA season.
After finishing last NBA season with eye-catching performances, there is no doubt that the Arkansas native will rise to the challenge, the Los Angeles Times pointed out.
Add to the fact he had his chance to strut his wares for Team USA, the experience that Reaves is racking up contributes to his evolution, although nothing could be sweeter than helping his team win another NBA trophy.
