Twelve-year veteran wide receiver Marvin Jones Jr. has made a huge decision regarding his NFL career.
The 33-year-old has announced that he is stepping away from the Detroit Lions to handle a personal family matter.
"To be brief, I am stepping away from the team to take care of personal family matters. Although this was no easy decision, I cannot be the person/player that I need to be for this team as well as tend to my family from afar," Jones said in a post on his social media accounts.
Jones was in the middle of a second stint in Detroit, where he previously played for five seasons from 2016 to 2020. Following the player's announcement, the Lions released him from their roster.
