Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku discussed the fire pit incident that happened a little over two weeks ago and caused his facial burns.
The 27-year-old described the incident as "interesting" and revealed that he was fully conscious when it occurred, expressing his gratitude for not losing his eyesight.
"First and foremost, I give all the glory to God. When it happened, my eyes were open, so I saw everything. I really should have been blinded. Luckily, I'm not, so I give all glory to God," the tight end said.
Njoku found the experience similar to an adrenaline surge, stressing the importance of being smarter in such situations, and relieved that nothing severe occurred.
The facial burns did not cause him to miss any time, as Njoku not only played but also emerged as the team's top performer, securing six receptions and 46 yards despite dealing with facial injuries during their Week 4 game against the Baltimore Ravens last Sunday, October 1.
The Browns had a Week 5 bye, providing Njoku an additional week to focus on his recovery.
