Philadelphia Phillies right fielder Bryce Harper made a significant impact with his bat on Wednesday night, October 11, bringing the Phillies within one win of the National League Championship Series with a huge 10-2 victory.
The 30-year-old admitted that he drew motivation from an incident that transpired after their previous Game 2 loss against the Atlanta Braves on Monday, wherein Braves shortstop Orlando Arcia took delight in Harper's misfortune by taunting him with "Atta-boy Harper" at their home clubhouse at Truist Park.
Harper was doubled off first base due to an exceptional play by Braves center fielder Michael Harris II, sealing the Braves' comeback win.
The two-time National League MVP was reminded by his teammates of the taunt, which provided all the motivation he needed to respond in Game 3.
"They just kind of told me. They looked at me and they were like, 'What are you going to do?," Harper shared.

Bryce Harper's revenge game
In the third inning, the seven-time MLB All-Star delivered a crucial three-run home run, establishing a lead that the Phillies held on for the remainder of the game.
Just two innings later, he hit another home run. On both occasions, the 2021 All-MLB First Team's celebratory gestures were notably directed toward Arcia as he rounded second base.
The Phillies will have a chance to close out the Braves on Thursday, October 12, at their home turf, Citizens Bank Park.
