Jonathan Taylor is heaving a huge sigh of relief after signing a three-year $42 million contract extension with the Indianapolis Colts. And now that this has been settled, the Pro Bowl running back says that this aligns with his plans to retire with the Horseshoe on his helmet.

"Like I said from day one after my first season - I always wanted to retire a Colt. To be able to take another step toward that, it's amazing," the 24-year-old NFL player stated per a report by Ben Arthur of NFL on Fox.

Jonathan Taylor is entering the final year of his deal with the Colts, and the 2021 NFL rushing yards leader was hoping to finalize a new one before the 2023-24 season started, USA Today reported.

Taylor returned to Colts practice last Wednesday, October 4. This was his first since December due to an ankle injury and a contract dispute, CBS Sports reported.

But according to Colts coach Shane Steichen, Taylor is looking pretty good, although they still have to make further evaluations, ESPN reported.

"He looked good," Steichen said. "Conditioning-wise, he looked good. Again, it's been a while since he's been out there, but he looked good the last couple days."

Taylor returned to football action for the Colts against the Tennessee Titans on Monday, October 9. Indianapolis won, 23-16, but the warm ovation given to Jonathan Taylor drew heavier attention.
