The Anaheim Ducks sealed the deal with restricted free agent Trevor Zegras on Monday, October 2.

The 22-year-old center reportedly agreed to a new three-year deal with the Ducks that will run through the 2025-26 NHL season.

"We are very pleased to be able to get Trevor signed and back on the ice where he belongs," Ducks General Manager Pat Verbeek said in a statement via ESPN. "We view Trevor as a critical and valued player and member of our organization and can't wait to see the next chapter in his career."

Trevor Zegras' new deal with the Ducks is hardly surprising, considering his accomplishments with the NHL team. That includes being only the second player in team history to reach 60 points multiple times before age 23, NHL.com.

Aside from that, Zegras is also the first player in franchise history to record 20 goals and 30 assists twice before his 22nd birthday. Given these accomplishments, the Anaheim Ducks were bent on keeping the Boston University standout.

Ducks claim Lassi Thomson off waivers

Before the Zegras signing, the Ducks also made another key personnel move after claiming Lassi Thomson off waivers from the Ottawa Senators, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reported.

After being selected as the 19th overall pick of the 2019 NHL Draft by the Senators, he was held scoreless in two games with Ottawa in the 2022-23 season.

The 23-year-old was placed on waivers on Friday, September 29, alongside Josh Currie, Garrett Pilon, and Dillon Heatherington.
