New York Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor has provided a silver lining in what has been a difficult season for the team.
The 29-year-old accomplished a remarkable feat by becoming the fourth player in franchise history to join the 30/30 club on the evening of Wednesday, September 27.
Lindor was filled with excitement and joy at achieving this remarkable milestone.
"I've said it before: I don't play for numbers but it's really hard not to play for numbers here in New York. Numbers come up a lot here. But [the milestone] means a lot. To be in the category of guys I idolized growing up ... it's pretty cool," Lindor said.
During Game 2 of the Mets' same-day doubleheader against the Miami Marlins, Francisco Lindor hit two home runs, marking his 29th and 30th of the season. He also recorded his 30th stolen base in the same game.
The four-time MLB All-Star previously hit another home run in the first game of the doubleheader, totaling three home runs for the day.
