New York Yankees designated hitter and outfielder Giancarlo Stanton admitted that he is in his worst career season.

Following a 0-for-4 night in the Yankees' 6-1 loss to the Blue Jays at the Yankees Stadium on Wednesday, September 20, the 33-year-old's batting average plummeted to a surprising .188, while his OPS dipped to .694.

"Can't produce like this season, so gotta change," Stanton confessed.

During the five-time MLB All-Star's last 11 games, he has recorded only two hits out of 39 at-bats, totaling 17 strikeouts.

Stanton was already coming off the worst season of his career in 2022, wherein he posted a .211 average and a .759 OPS. His statistics for this year have surpassed even those disappointing numbers.

The two-time NL Aaron Hank Award winner is under contract with the team until the 2027 season, and he is still owed $98 million for those remaining years.

Giancarlo Staton still puts in the work to reverse fortunes

Despite the difficult season, the two-time Silver Slugger Award winner has continued to work in hopes of getting over his slump.

"A lot of things I've got to work and adjust on. But if you guys think I'm just showing up and going out there and not working, then I don't know what to tell you," the 2017 NL MVP said.

Stanton will sit out Thursday's contest against the Blue Jays to rest amid this challenging stretch.
