The Indiana Pacers failed to come to terms with Buddy Hield on a contract extension, and it appears the 2020 NBA Three-Point Contest champion will be suiting up for another team soon.
After failing to get the approval of Hield, his representatives and the Pacers are expected to find a trade partner, Shams Charania of The Athletic reported.
Buddy Hield has been a recurring target for the Los Angeles Lakers in recent years. This dates back to when the NBA swingman was still with the Sacramento Kings.

Lakers interest in Hield timeline
This was back in 2021 when the Lakers desperately needed a shooter. They were ready to ship out Kyle Kuzma and Montrezl Harrell to Sacramento, Zach Lowe of ESPN reported. But as most know, the purple and gold settled for Russell Westbrook instead.
Regardless, that didn't end there. The Lakers ' interest remained even after the trade that sent Buddy Hield to the Pacers.
In the 2023 NBA Draft, Los Angeles was allegedly ready to trade down their 17th overall pick to acquire Hield and Myles Turner.
Nothing came out of that, although expect the Lakers to be named as one of the potential landing spots for the sixth overall pick of the 2016 NBA Draft.
Lakers may pass on Buddy Hield
However, it remains to be seen what kind of package the purple and gold will agree to. Considering they seem pretty set for the 2023-24 NBA season, it would be surprising to see the Lakers tweak their roster anew with the new season fast approaching.
Hield averaged 16.8 points, five rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game, numbers that any NBA team would surely welcome.
