The Minnesota Timberwolves are among the NBA teams to watch this 2023-24 NBA season, and NBA Hall of Famer Kevin Garnett likes his former team's chances.
The 2004 NBA Most Valuable Player believes the Timberwolves have a great tandem in Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns, something that Minnesota has not had for quite some time, according to Garnett when he spoke on Ticket and the Truth via @shobasketball.
However, the 15-time All-Star warns the Timberwolves could face a problem handling the two All-Stars moving forward. As an example, he recalled the time when he partnered with Stephon Marbury.
The Garnett-Marbury connection helped the T-Wolves reach the NBA playoffs twice. However, things took a different turn when Starbury demanded a trade and was dealt to the New Jersey (Brooklyn) Nets.
In his opinion, the one-time NBA champion believes that Edwards is too good of a player to be Towns' sidekick and vice versa. For their partnership to work, Edwards and Towns must move forward and complement each other.
"It ain't about stepping back. It's about going forward together," the 47-year-old retired player explained.
Edwards and Towns need to be on the same page
Edwards of Team USA and Towns of the Dominican Republic were among the cagers who shone brightly in the recently concluded FIBA Basketball World Cup. It will be interesting to see how the two cagers can mesh and help the T-Wolves figure prominently in the 2023-24 NBA wars.
There is reason to be optimistic since the team hardly changed. Hence, the Timberwolves will hope that with the same gang back, T-Wolves management believes they have just to polish some shortcomings last season, particularly on offense, Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic reported.
The Minnesota Timberwolves odds of winning the NBA title is pegged at +8500 per FanDuel Sportsbook. They open their season on October 25 against the Toronto Raptors, per Bleacher Report.
