Los Angeles Rams rookie quarterback Stetson Bennett will be placed on the team's reserve/non-football illness list, according to head coach Sean McVay on Wednesday, September 13.
The 37-year-old tactician did not disclose Bennett's situation or the reason for his status change, but he confirmed that it is unrelated to the shoulder injury that had been nagging him last week.
McVay also hinted that the reason could potentially be bigger than football.
"There are certain things that I think are a little bit bigger and more important, and out of respect for him and the situation, I'm going to leave all the specifics and particulars in-house," the Super Bowl LVI champion coach said.
Bennett is expected to miss at least the next four games, delaying his debut in the NFL.
McVay added that he wants to stay silent out of respect for Bennett's undisclosed situation and will not have any follow-up information or comments on the matter.

Stetson Bennett had shoulder injury last week
The 25-year-old was dealing with a shoulder injury right before the start of the season, which caused him to miss their Week 1 game against the Seattle Seahawks on the road last Sunday, September 10. The Rams won their season opener, 30-13.
Last week, McVay said the nagging shoulder injury has been bothering the first-year player for the last couple of weeks, on and off.
Bennett was selected by the Rams in the fourth round of the 2023 NFL Draft with the 128th overall pick.
