Jhonathan Diaz will have the chance to show the Los Angeles Angels and the MLB what he is made of after being called to the majors.

The 26-year-old Venezuelan has reportedly been selected by the Angels onto the big roster and is expected to start when Los Angeles faces the Cleveland Guardians, according to Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register.

It will be Diaz's first appearance for the Angels this MLB season. He pitched seven games for Los Angeles and owns a 3.49 ERA in 28 1/3 MLB frames. Also, the 26-year-old has only struck out 16% of opponents while walking nearly 14% of batters he faced.

Diaz has spent most of the season with Salt Lake, owning a 4.55 ERA and 1.44 WHIP through 87 innings, CBS Sports reported.

He had a good run with the Angels last season with a 2.93 ERA over 15.1 frames. Los Angeles hopes Diaz can deliver the same numbers starting with the Guardians.

The Angels opted not to give Diaz a contract in the offseason, leaving him out of the 40-man roster. The Venezuelan settled for a minor-league deal instead.

Diaz has three option years remaining with the Angels. Depending on how he performs, Los Angeles can move him to Orange County and Salt Lake, assuming he is retained on the team's roster.

Aside from Diaz, the Angels also recalled Davis Daniel. He appeared briefly in the majors last year but never saw action, MLB.com reported. He spent most of last season rehabbing his strained right shoulder.
