The Portland Trail Blazers don't intend to allow Damian Lillard's trade request to hamper their preparations for the coming NBA season.
The Trail Blazers know they need to acclimate themselves with the possibility of carrying on their NBA journey without the disgruntled All-Star guard, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reported.
"This is an organization that is fully prepared, and I think Damian Lillard perhaps is also prepared for the possibility, that this training camp may start with him in camp," Wojnarowski said on NBA Today. "And then if you're the Blazers you wait and see what happens in the first 20, 25 games of the season to see what direction teams go in."
Blazers ready for Lillard trade request ramifications
Portland Trail Blazers general manager Joe Cronin is aware of what is on the table, admitting that Lillard made a trade request in July.
However, the Trail Blazers general manager made it clear that they are willing to wait for months until an acceptable offer comes their way.
According to Aaron Fentress of the Oregonian, the Trail Blazers want four first-round picks and two quality players in exchange for the seven-time All-Star guard. Given the assets needed to make it work, it may take a three-team trade to see Lillard move to another NBA club.
Lillard confirmed that he did make a trade request, although he added that his love for Portland remains. The 33-year-old mentioned he wanted to move to the Miami Heat, although the South Beach squad may lack the assets to pull off the deal.
