Anthony Davis of the Los Angeles Lakers has played the center position for the past years even though he is uncomfortable doing so.

The eight-time All-Star is bothered by the wear-and-tear that comes with playing the center slot, and Davis reportedly made it clear to the purple and gold that he wanted more support according to sources in a report by ESPN.

On the part of the Lakers, this concern has been addressed. Los Angeles took in Jaxson Hayes and Christian Wood to man the slot, a development that should give the 6-foot-10 Davis a bit of relief.

The Lakers finally sealed the deal with Wood after lengthy negotiations. It was a dream come true for the former UNLV Runnin' Rebel, who agreed to a two-year deal worth $5.7 million, NBA.com reported.

However, it cannot be discounted that Davis will still play a bit of center for the Lakers when the new NBA season starts, Jovan Buha of The Athletic batted. This will depend entirely on head coach Darvin Ham and in situations in which Los Angeles would find itself.

Playing the center position last season for the Lakers took its toll on Davis. This was evident in the NBA playoffs when the 2013 NBA Rookie of the Year saw his game dip incrementally against teams like the Memphis Grizzlies, Golden State Warriors, and the eventual NBA champion Denver Nuggets.

Overall, Davis played 100% of his time in the center slot. With help from Hayes and Wood, the former Kentucky Wildcat can focus on playing the power forward position.
