Today at 1:00 p.m. ET the Philadelphia Eagles (7-5) will host the Detroit Lions (7-5) and try to pull ahead of the Dallas Cowboys in the NFC East standings. The Eagles entered the season with a quarterback controversy on their hands, but newly cemented starter Nick Foles, who steppe up after Michael Vick went down with multiple injuries, has performed so well that even Vick endorsed the switch. Foles has tossed 19 touchdowns on the season, and has yet to throw an interception.
"He's been a good decision type guy," Detroit safety Glover Quin said of Foles. "Not making mistakes and keeping his team in the game."
Foles said previous mistakes plus hard work in practice are the secret to his success. "I learned through making mistakes and throwing interceptions in high school, in college, and in practice," Foles said. "I try to push it in practice and test my boundaries and see what throws are capable against certain defenses. It's through a lot of mistakes that I've learned that."
The Lions, on the other hand, have made lots of mistakes recently before snapping a losing streak on Thanksgiving. We just need to take better care of the football," quarterback Matthew Stafford said. "If we can eliminate that, I feel real good about where we are."
After some heartbreaking losses, the Lions rebounded on Turkey Day to demolish the overmatched Packers. "It's easy when you lose a couple games in a row, particularly the fashion that we lost, for people to say, 'Here we go again,'" coach Jim Schwartz said. "I'm sure there were some people that were saying that, but they weren't on our sideline."
