The New York Mets could soon be giving Dominican Republic prospect Ronny Mauricio the break he has been waiting for.
The long-awaited dream of the no. 4 prospect was finally realized on Wednesday night after the Mets reportedly informed Mauricio that he would be called to the Majors before the Mets' series opener on Friday, September 1, against the Seattle Mariners.
The Dominican is expected to get promoted on Friday when rosters expand to 28 players, Joel Sherman of the Post reported. The Mets have yet to confirm this move officially.

Regardless, Mauricio is unsurprisingly elated at the move, aware of what this means to him.
"It would mean the world to me. It's my dream to play Major League Baseball," the 22-year-old shortstop said.
It would also be fitting, considering the Mets held off from calling Mauricio despite showy numbers. He is batting .295 with 23 home runs and 24 steals for New York's Triple-A affiliate in Syracuse.
The Mets wanted to see more from Mauricio, both offensively and defensively. The 22-year-old also worked to try out playing different positions, especially with Francisco Lindor standing in the way at shortstop.
Worth noting is how the Mets still kept Mauricio in the mix. With big names such as Tommy Pham and Mark Canha gone before the trade deadline, New York was trying to trim down its payroll to manageable levels.
Those moves likely helped clear some space for Mauricio, paving the way for his reported call-up. He will join other rookies in the Mets' mix, such as Francisco Alvarez and Mark Vientos, hoping to raise the fort moving forward.
The Mets are currently last in the NL East.
