Tyrese Haliburton is proving to be a gem of a find in the NBA. He was drafted 12th in the 2020 NBA Draft by the Sacramento Kings, and hoop junkies following the league have witnessed the rise of the Iowa State Cyclones product.

Looking back at the 2020 NBA Draft, the Dallas Mavericks allegedly contemplated making a move for the 6-foot-5 cager.

This was according to team owner Mark Cuban when he chatted with Patrick Beverley on a recent episode of "The Pat Bef Pod." The NBA executive shared how he had wanted to pull some strings and trade up to draft Haliburton, but things just fell apart.

"Tyrese Haliburton. We did everything we could to trade up and get him. Did everything we could. Now obviously, Rick was our coach at the time. Rick goes to Indiana, what's the first deal he does?" Cuban stated.

The Mavs were coming off a 43-win season, and Dallas was looking to provide resident star Luka Doncic added help. There is no doubt that, hypothetically, Haliburton would have been a huge addition to the roster for the NBA club.

Dallas had to make do by selecting 18th overall at the 2020 NBA Draft. They ended up getting Josh Green, who has been showing potential. But there is no denying the Mavs could have been better had they been able to cook up a deal to select Haliburton.

Haliburton's career averages 16.2 points, 8 assists, and 3.6 rebounds in 191 games. On the other hand, Green has played in 166 games, norming 9.1 points, three rebounds, and 1.7 assists.

The numbers alone of Haliburton and Green, not to mention what they bring to their teams, don't lie.
