The Houston Texans are ready to put their prized selection to the test.

The team has named C.J. Stroud as their starting quarterback ahead of Week 1 of the 2023 NFL season, which will be on the road against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, September 10.

"It was definitely a blessing, something that I think I worked for and definitely earned. At the same time, nothing else really changes. Still going to work like the way I'm working but even more now," Stroud said after head coach DeMeco Ryans announced the decision.

The 21-year-old was selected by the Texans in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft with the second overall pick.

Houston was the last team in the league to name their starting quarterback.

Ryans admitted that Stroud's work ethic and willingness to improve his game were among the factors that propelled him to the starting job.
