NBA superstar Kevin Durant and American rapper Drake were among the notable names who reacted to the controversial rant of Olympian Noah Lyles on Friday, August 25.

The 26-year-old American sprinter had just batted three gold medals for the United States at the World Athletics Championships 2023 in Budapest, winning the 100-meter, 200-meter, and 4x100 relay. However, the 26-year-old raised eyebrows when he gloated to reporters that he was a true world champion and took a swipe at the NBA.

Lyles' comments were captured on video in a Twitter post shared by freelance sports journalist Cathal Dennehey.

"I watch the NBA Finals, and they have 'world champion' on their head. World champion of what? The United States?" Lyles said.

After doing so, it didn't take long for several NBA stars, such as Kevin Durant of the Phoenix Suns and Draymond Green of the Golden State Warriors, to respond to the Olympian's comments, some of which were captured by ESPN's Sports Center.

"Somebody help this brother," Durant stated on social media.

"When being smart goes wrong," Green reacted for his part.

Aside from the NBA players, there was also Drake, who took time from his "Blur" Tour to react to Lyle's comments on the DJ Akademik's page.

"He thought this speech was gonna be so hard in the mirror the night before...now the whole league doesn't rate u," the 36-year-old singer and songwriter stated.

Durant and Green have been there and done that

Lyles was unsurprisingly at a high for his world-level achievements. It appears he thought of taking a shot at NBA players, particularly their NBA world title campaigns.

However, the comments of the American Olympian came at a time when the FIBA Basketball World Championships were ongoing. Durant and Green have already been at this stage and have already proven their stock with their respective gold medals, the San Francisco Gate pointed out.
