The Dallas Cowboys are in win-now mode, and a key piece could be in the person of Jonathan Taylor of the Indianapolis Colts.

The 2021 First-team All-Pro was given permission by the Colts on Monday, August 21, to seek a trade. Taylor's agent has started exploring possible deals with other teams, as previously reported here on Sports World News.

One NFL team that could make sense for the 24-year-old running back is the Dallas Cowboys. Considering they cut ties with Ezekiel Elliott in the offseason, giving starter Tony Pollard some added help would benefit the Cowboys, NBC Sports reported.

Team owner Jerry Jones appears to be content relying on Pollard for now. However, the NFL executive also added that he is not closing the door on any potential deal involving the 2021 NFL rushing yards leader, according to ESPN NFL Nation reporter Todd Archer.

"I feel good about our running back position if we don't add anybody," Jones said when asked about a potential Jonathan Taylor trade.

One thing that could be holding the Cowboys back is that they would have to pay a steep price to get Taylor in a Cowboys uniform. The Colts are seeking a first-round pick or a package that equals a first-rounder in return, according to sources cited by NFL reporter Stephen Holder.

Although the investment is hefty, any NFL team who successfully gets Taylor will inherit a workhorse. In two of the three seasons he has been in the league, the former Wisconsin Badger has had over 1,000 rushing yards and at least 11 touchdowns.

Another team reportedly expected to explore trade possibilities besides the Cowboys is the Miami Dolphins, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald suggested.

Other NFL teams that could also take an interest in a Jonathan Taylor trade include the Philadelphia Eagles and the Los Angeles Chargers, according to Mike Florio and Chris Simms, which they discussed on PFT Live.
