Former president Donald Trump did not hold back from criticizing the United States women's national team following their elimination from the 2023 FIFA World Cup in the hands of Sweden in the round of 16, losing 5-4 in penalties.

The former president mocked the team for failing to reach expectations while attacking President Joe Biden. Trump also criticized the team for being openly hostile to America, singling out veteran Megan Rapinoe and her missed penalty in the tirade.

The exit was USWNT's earliest elimination in Women's World Cup history, meaning a new FIFA Women's World Cup champion will be crowned for the first time in nearly a decade after the United States won the last two editions in 2015 and 2019.

Donald Trump and USWNT's long-time feud

Trump has been in a recurring feud for years now with some members of the team, specifically Rapinoe.

The winger was asked ahead of the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup if she was excited to go to the White House should the team win the tournament, and she said, "I'm not going to the f***ing White House."

Trump blasted some members of the USWNT after their semi-final exit in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in 2021, claiming that the team "went woke," singling out Rapinoe by saying that "she didn't play too well."
