The Golden State Warriors, who are in the middle of a busy offseason, are shifting personnel in their front office once again.
The San Francisco team hired former NBA player Chuck Hayes as Director of Basketball Operations.
The nine-year NBA veteran has been with the Houston Rockets front office since 2017, most recently serving as their assistant director of player personnel.
Hayes confirmed the new Warriors role to Danielle Lerner and Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle, saying that his job will encompass some professional and college scouting and enhance his responsibilities with free agency and trade strategy.
Hayes' new gig will be closer to his hometown of San Leandro, California, about 20 miles from San Francisco's Chase Center, the home of the Warriors.
Standing at 6-foot-6, Hayes spent nine seasons playing in the league, the majority of them with the Houston Rockets. Stints with the Sacramento Kings and Toronto Raptors followed.
He is one of the shortest players to play the center and power forward positions in the league's history.
Golden State Warriors front office receiving revamp
The Bay Area team has had a busy offseason, which started with the departure of longtime general manager Bob Myers and the appointment of former player Mike Dunleavy Jr. to the post.
Former player Shaun Livingston also left the front office this summer after serving as the team's Director of Player Affairs and Engagement for the past three seasons.
