The Houston Astros and Chicago White Sox have agreed on a deal to send right-handed reliever Kendall Graveman back to the Astros, per Jeff Passan of ESPN.

Catcher Korey Lee will go to the White Sox as part of the transaction. The 25-year-old was ranked number five by MLB Pipeline among prospects in the Astros' system.

Graveman is among the veterans dealt by the White Sox ahead of MLB's August 1 trade deadline.

"We feel like he's going to come in here and make an impact. You guys know what his abilities are like. He's pitched in high-pressure innings for us, his stuff is really good," Astros general manager Dana Brown said.

Graveman made his MLB debut in 2014 for the Toronto Blue Jays, getting traded to the Oakland Athletics a few months into his rookie season.

He signed with the Chicago Cubs for the 2019 season, but he wasn't able to play for the team due to a Tommy John surgery. Stints with the Seattle Mariners, Houston Astros, and Chicago White Sox followed.

Second tour of duty of Kendall Graveman for the Astros

The 32-year-old will be having his second stint for the Astros, having played for the team briefly in 2021. He was able to play at the 2021 World Series, but they lost in six games to the Atlanta Braves.

Graveman signed a three-year contract worth $24 million with the White Sox in November 2021, and the Astros will be picking up half of the contract with their reacquisition of the reliever.
