Brooklyn Nets' Ben Simmons is finally on his way to a healthy year after suffering from a myriad of injuries for the past season, severely limiting his production from his previous All-Star level of play.

"The expectation is that he'll be able to start the season Day 1 of training camp and definitely the regular season without any limitations in any way," Simmons' agent Bernie Lee said on SiriusXM Radio.

The 6-foot-10 experienced a smooth summer this year after enduring difficult offseasons in 2021 and 2022. Simmons is finally doing skill and conditioning work instead of dealing with scrutiny or rehabbing for an injury.

Marc J. Spears of ESPN reported that Simmons "is as healthy as he has ever been since his last year in Philly."

Ben Simmons endured two difficult summers

Simmons sparked controversy during the summer of 2021 when he requested a trade from the Philadelphia 76ers following their elimination in that year's Eastern Conference Semifinals to the Atlanta Hawks.

The three-time All-Star held out from appearing in team practices, games, and other events until his trade request was granted, resulting in a multitude of fines.

The 27-year-old was finally traded to the Brooklyn Nets months later, but he wasn't able to play for the team in 2021-22 due to a herniated disc on his back which required surgery. He did rehab work in the summer of 2022.

Back issues continued to haunt Simmons in the 2022-23 NBA season, where he only appeared in 42 games, averaging a career-low in points, rebounds, and assists. He was shut down for the season in March.
