The New York Yankees need all the reinforcement they can have, and they may accelerate Aaron Judge's availability to fill the gaps they have been missing since the start of the second half.

The Athletic's Chris Kirschner reported that the team is contemplating making the outfielder skip rehab.

Judge has been out since June 4 due to a torn ligament on his right toe.

Just this Sunday, he went on a batting practice with Jonathan Loáisiga, who said his star teammate already looks good.

"He's healing and trying to get back as soon as possible, and I'm a sinker pitcher, so I don't want to make a mistake. Everything away," Loáisiga told reporters.

"When you take into consideration how long he hasn't seen live pitching in an environment like that, I think he looked really good, honestly."

Manager Aaron Boone comments on Judge's recovery

Judge will again play another simulated game with Loáisiga on Wednesday, and manager Aaron Boone elevated his situation to day-to-day.

"It's, 'Get through today and tomorrow'; hopefully we can ramp up and it's a couple [innings] more," Boone told reporters.

"I don't think he had any action in the field today. We'll try and set up situations to make sure there's action in play, or script some things a little bit more so that not only is he getting the volume of being out there for an hour or two hours, getting the live at-bats, but trying to replicate things that would come up in the game as much as we can."
