Philadelphia 76ers superstar James Harden commented on the ongoing Damian Lillard trade saga that has been going on for weeks.
The 2018 NBA MVP says he sees both sides, having been in such situations before. He understands where the organizations are coming from, doing what's best for them by getting the best possible return for their valuable asset and not giving them away for nothing.
Meanwhile, he reiterated that players choose a possible destination for several reasons, such as the best situation personally and the comfort of their families. Harden added that meeting in the middle is the best scenario for both.
"I wouldn't want an organization to send someone somewhere where they wouldn't [want to] be.. That person has done so many great things for your organization.. But then you don't want to give that player away for nothing," the 33-year-old said.
Lillard requested a trade out of the Portland Trail Blazers three weeks ago, stating that he only wanted to play for the Miami Heat. However, the Blazers are still waiting for a huge haul and are not satisfied with what Miami offers, stalling the deal.
James Harden is in the same situation
Harden is also currently experiencing the same situation. He opted in on his 2023-24 player option with the Sixers to find a suitable trade to match salaries and assets.
The Beard reportedly only wants the Los Angeles Clippers to be his next destination, but the Sixers are still looking for the best return for their star.
