One would think that Stephen Curry has everything a man wants by now.
Even if the discussions go back to his younger years, his life is something many people out there would want to have.
However, the Golden State Warriors star knows there are areas to improve, which is a mantra he's been following.
He said being the son of an accomplished former NBA player and a former volleyball player created expectations for him. These expectations created insecurities for him, which he welcomes, but he makes sure to keep them at a healthy level.
"There were almost kind of inherent expectations around me that I wasn't living up to on the timeline that people thought I was. So you had to be kind of singularly focused on making sure I found joy in what I was doing," he said in an interview with The Washington Post while promoting his documentary.
Curry hopes he never loses his sense of healthy insecurity.
Curry explains how he achieved an underrated mindset
Curry's documentary, released on July 21, is titled Underrated, a word the four-time NBA champ attaches to himself throughout his career.
He explained that the underrated mentality is something he acquired while he was still playing college basketball with Davidson.
"The NBA accomplishments . . . it all is through the lens of what helped me develop that underrated mindset while I was at Davidson and why I still talk about it and still refer to it even now," said Curry, who is now a four-time champion and part of the exclusive NBA 75th Anniversary team.
"It's always a part of my DNA because that's how I truly learned how to approach the game and find my own identity in this world."
