LaMelo Ball will continue to be the cornerstone of the rebuilding Charlotte Hornets after signing a five-year deal worth $260 million.
Ball has been in the league for just three years and made the NBA All-Star Game in 2020.
As for his team, the Hornets have yet to reach the playoffs since making it in 2016.
The 21-year-old point guard believes they are getting there, which is one reason why re-signing was an easy decision.
"Where we at, I feel like we are all growing together," Ball said in front of reporters to tackle his contract. "I think it's just a great position and I think we are all going the right way now."

He also reasoned that his family is cared for in Charlotte, making it easy for him to sign the new deal.
"You want to be living well, and in Charlotte I'm doing that. It all just felt like a great choice."
Why does he think they are getting there?
Ball is bullish for their future, with the young stars coming in, specifically the second-overall draft pick of 2023, Brandon Miller.
"Like a little brother, definitely cool and I think he is a great player, too - 6-9, can handle the ball. So, I feel like he's going to fit in perfectly and it's going to be a great marriage," he said.
He also thinks that the return of Miles Bridges from a lengthy suspension due to domestic violence will be huge for the team, and he is excited to play again with him.
"We got MB back. That was big and hopefully we just make the most of this year and show everybody."
