Adrien Broner Vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr.: Dream Matchup Must Happen If Manny Pacquiao Fight Off The Table? [VIDEO]

Adrien Broner is set to face Marcos Maidana on December 14th, and if he is successful, a fight with his "big brother" Floyd Mayweather Jr. may not be to far away.

Broner has often stated emphatically he has no desire to face Floyd, whom he views as a mentor, but Mayweather is starving for an interesting opponent these days and seems very far apart from meeting Manny Pacquiao.

Broner needs to take care of business next Saturday night, however. That will not be such an easy task because Maidana is the most difficult fighter he will have faced in his young career. Broner's typically made his bones knocking fighters down with power shots, but is hinting that his defense and reflexes will be key against "El Chino."

"One more thing that people don't understand is the guys he knocked out he was able to hit," said Broner. "He has to hit me first, and he's never been hit by me. We'll all see what happens December 14th."

Maidana also admitted that slippery defensive fighters have given him issues. "In the past, I've had a few problems with boxers, slick boxers, but I don't think Broner is such a slick boxer," said Maidana. "He's talented, but I'm preparing well. I had great sparing partners this time. I adjusted myself and be sure that Adrien is going to respect me in the ring. I will make sure that he respects me in the ring."

If Broner overcomes Maidana, he will likely need one more fight against a big-name opponent and the chorus will start getting loud for a Mayweather-Broner bout.

As for Mayweather, nothing has been announced but it appears that Manny Pacquiao is out of the question.

"The same day you are reading on USA Today that he's [Bob Arum] willing to make a Mayweather-Pacquiao fight. Not a day later or a week later, but the same day, he announces Pacquiao is going to fight on April 12th at the MGM against one of three names," Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer said. "All of these media members are being fooled by this idiot. They actually think he wants to put a Mayweather-Pacquiao fight together."
