Manchester United's quest for a goalkeeper has seemingly ended after agreeing to terms with Inter Milan for the transfer of Andre Onana, according to Italian football journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Multiple reports say United will pay around $60 million for their new top-choice goalkeeper. The 27-year-old will sign a contract that will run until 2028, with an option until 2029. The club is now preparing the paperwork and ironing out the final details to complete the signing.
The Cameroonian was an integral part of the Inter Milan squad that made the UEFA Champions League Final last season.
United boss Erk ten Hag has made some bold moves this summer to rebuild the club, including acquiring central midfielder Mason Mount from Chelsea, stripping Harry Maguire of his captaincy, and buying a new goalkeeper in Onana to replace David De Gea.
Manchester United's history ends with David De Gea
Longtime Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea announced his departure this month after failing to agree to a new deal, ending 12 years and an iconic era for the club.
The 32-year-old Spaniard is the last player in the team to have played minutes under Sir Alex Ferguson, widely regarded as the club's greatest manager ever. The Scottish boss managed Manchester United from 1986 to 2012.
Several sides are interested in De Gea, including La Liga club Sevilla and some Saudi Arabian teams offering lucrative deals.
