Dele Alli comes to his former coach Jose Mourinho's defense two years after the release of "All or Nothing: Tottenham Hotspur."

The Everton midfielder appeared in an interview with Gary Neville's "The Overlap," where he talked about his struggles that led to the deterioration of his mental health.

He discussed how Mourinho made him feel unplayable and touched on the documentary's content.

Mourinho called him lazy in one part of the video, but Alli clarified that the Portuguese manager apologized, but that part was not shown in the Amazon documentary.

"So that lazy comment people all love to bring that up, that interview obviously that was on Amazon," he told Neville.

"He called me lazy - that was the day after recovery day. A week later, he apologised to me for calling me lazy because he'd seen me actually train and play. But that wasn't in the documentary, and no one spoke up about that because it was only me and him."

Alli said that Mourinho's "lazy" comment that was not cleared up could be why managers do not play him that much.

"They stuck to that - lazy one - because it was kind of an easy, easy one to use. And the problem was probably more than that, I think."

Alli and Mourinho spent two years together in Tottenham. However, the former had not been productive.

By 2022, the former PFA Young Player of the Year was no longer part of his first Premier League club.

He is now with Everton, who supported him after the release of the interview.
