US soccer legend Landon Donovan thinks the MLS should have moved to bring Christian Pulisic to American soil as it will be an arrival similar to the hype Lionel Messi got when he decided to join Inter Miami.

Donovan, who spent most of his career with the LA Galaxy and played briefly for European side Everton, knows that the two players are of different stature.

He only believes Pulisic is the biggest American player right now, and the USA could have good use of him as the country is set to host the next FIFA World Cup together with Canada and Mexico.

He believes Pulisic's caliber will bring the attention the hosts need for the event, much like the hype over Messi's arrival.

"I'm sure he's making plenty of money, but the ability to come to MLS is kind of like [Lionel] Messi's," he said in an interview with Fox Sports.

"Bring an American superstar who has global recognition back to MLS ahead of the World Cup. I think it would have been a great move, and I can hear the Twitterverse going crazy."

Donovan may have a point, but Pulisic seems to be the type who chases great competition.

Where is Pulisic going anyway?

Reports have it that Pulisic is set to join AC Milan soon, with medical the only remaining hurdle.

"Christian Pulisic will be in Italy this week to undergo medical tests and sign in as new AC Milan player on permanent deal from Chelsea ️," football insider Fabrizio Romano wrote on Twitter.

"Documents already in place between clubs, Pulisic will sign contract valid until June 2027."
