It is a common trope in the NBA that when a veteran joins a young team, another player's talent gets unlocked.
What will it be like when a veteran player, a former MVP at that, teams up with a budding superstar?
For former NBA player Isaiah Thomas it is an MVP season on the horizon for the young star.
The ex-Boston Celtics star is reacting to the Memphis Grizzlies' acquisition of 2011 MVP Derrick Rose. He believes the veteran's presence in the Grizzlies will greatly benefit Morant.
"Watch what type of season Ja has next year with D rose connected to his hip all year long," Thomas tweeted.
"Once he gets off suspension he will have his best season yet. That D Rose presence going to have him on some MVP s-t... Watch!"

Suspension is the only hurdle
For fans to see this happen, Derrick Rose will need to stay with the Grizzlies for a few more seasons.
Morant cannot contend for an MVP award this season based on the new rules by the CBA.
A player must play at least 65 games to become eligible, and Morant has already been suspended 25 games for his second offense of the league's gun rules.
Morant sure is one of the top players in the league. The 23-year-old guard is the Grizzlies' leader and led his team to a second-seed finish in the Western Conference last season.
He is just in his fourth year but has already collected several accolades, like two All-Star Selections and one All-NBA Second Team nod.
