Formula 1 has revealed its slate of races for the 2024 season, featuring a record-breaking 24 Grand Prix worldwide.
The upcoming season, which begins at the end of February and ends in December, is bound to be the longest season in the history of the racing series.
2024 will see the return of the Chinese Grand Prix in April after a four-year absence due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Several races have been moved to support regionalization, improve travel efficiency and promote sustainability efforts.
The Japanese Grand Prix will now be held in April instead of its usual September date, in relation to the neighboring Chinese Grand Prix being held in the same month. Meanwhile, the Azerbaijan Grand Prix will also move from June to September, while the Italian Grand Prix will now be held in May instead of September.
Saturday races to be held, new fall break introduced
Breaking away from tradition, three races next year will be held on a Saturday, including the first two of the season in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.
The Sakhir and Jeddah Grand Prix will kick off on Saturday to support and respect Ramadan in the Muslim-majority Middle Eastern region, while the much anticipated Las Vegas Grand Prix in November will also be held one day earlier to accommodate time differences between the United States and Europe.
A new fall break from September to October has also been introduced for the teams to have a rest during the longest F1 season ever, aside from the usual summer break from July to August.
